Costal fishing

At Fjellerup Strands Camping one of Denmark’s best fishing areas beckons, irrespective of whether you want to fish for plaice or sea trout.

North Djursland lies between the mouth of the river Gudena in the Randers Fjord and the Channels of Kolindsund in the Grena river.

Every year thousands of trout and salmon pass through these waters.

Right below the campsite is the legendary Fjellerup Reef. The shallow water in this area is rapidly warmed by the spring sun. That’s when salmon come to the area to feast on e.g. sand eels and shrimp. Then there’s a plentiful supply.

The high season for sea trout is April and May.

You can easily fish for flounder directly in front of Fjellerup Strands Camping. Put down an anchor 100-300m from shore and you’ll soon have enough flounder for dinner.

You can dig out sand worms or collect them from between sand banks at low tide.

In Late summer Gjerrild, Karlby and Sangstrup Klingt are very promising fishing areas.

The light summer nights in particular are especially good for trout fishing.

If you’ve made a big catch, we’ll freeze it and store it for you.
